Editorial policy
This page explains how Nappedia maintains editorial independence, how we source and verify information, and the standards we hold ourselves to across every piece of content we publish.
Financial independence
Nappedia operates with complete financial independence from the mattress industry. This means:
-
block
No affiliate links. We do not earn commissions, referral fees, or any form of per-sale compensation when readers purchase a mattress.
-
block
No sponsored content. No mattress company, retailer, or manufacturer pays for content, placement, or favorable coverage on this site.
-
block
No advertising from mattress brands. We do not run display ads, sponsored posts, or promotional placements from companies whose products we review.
-
block
No brand partnerships. No mattress company has editorial input, approval rights, advance access to reviews, or any ability to influence scores or content.
Our independence is not a marketing claim — it is a structural policy. There is no revenue pathway between a mattress sale and Nappedia. This removes the incentive to recommend products that are not genuinely good.
How we source information
Every factual claim on Nappedia is traceable to one or more of the following source types:
-
menu_book
Peer-reviewed research. Published studies from journals covering sleep science, materials science, ergonomics, and consumer health.
-
bar_chart
Large consumer surveys. Data from organizations such as J.D. Power, Consumer Reports, Sleep Foundation, and similar bodies that survey representative samples of mattress owners.
-
factory
Industry data. Verified information from certifying bodies (CertiPUR-US, GOLS, OEKO-TEX), industry associations (ISPA), and manufacturer specifications confirmed through documentation.
-
build
Hands-on evaluation. Direct testing and assessment conducted by our editorial team using standardized protocols described in our scoring methodology.
We do not cite anonymous tips, unverified user reviews, or promotional materials as evidence. If a claim cannot be sourced to a verifiable origin, it does not appear on this site.
How reviews are produced
All mattress reviews on Nappedia are produced using the SleepPrint™ scoring methodology. This system evaluates every mattress across 12 weighted performance categories and produces a composite score on a 1–10 scale.
Key principles of our review process
- Standardized evaluation. Every mattress is assessed using the same 12 categories with the same weights. No mattress receives special treatment or modified criteria.
- Public methodology. The full scoring methodology — including category definitions, weight rationale, and evidence standards — is published on our scoring system page. Readers can audit any score.
- No pre-publication review by brands. Mattress companies do not see reviews before publication. They have no opportunity to request changes to scores or content.
- Corrections on record. If we discover an error in a published review, we correct it promptly and note the change with a date stamp. We do not silently edit reviews.
Corrections and updates policy
We are committed to factual accuracy. When we get something wrong, we fix it openly:
- Factual errors are corrected as soon as they are identified. The correction is noted on the page with the date it was made.
- Outdated information is updated when new data becomes available (e.g., updated warranty terms, revised pricing, new certification status). Update dates are displayed on every page.
- Reader-reported issues are investigated within 2 business days. If the report is valid, we issue a correction. If we disagree, we explain why.
To report an error, visit our contact page and select "Correction or factual error" as the subject.
Conflict of interest policy
Members of the Nappedia editorial team are required to disclose any personal or financial relationship with a mattress company, retailer, or manufacturer. Specifically:
- No editorial team member may hold equity in, receive compensation from, or serve as a consultant to any mattress company whose products are reviewed on this site.
- If an editorial team member receives a complimentary product for evaluation purposes, this is disclosed on the relevant review page.
- Editorial team members may not accept gifts, travel, or hospitality from mattress companies valued above a nominal amount.
These rules exist to maintain the trust of our readers. If you believe there is an undisclosed conflict of interest, please contact us.
