Nappedia The mattress encyclopedia

Privacy Policy

schedule Last updated: April 2026

Nappedia is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the steps we take to keep your data safe. We have designed our platform to minimize data collection wherever possible.

Information We Collect

Nappedia is a static website that collects very little information from its visitors. Here is what we may collect:

  • Chatbot conversations — If you use the Nappedia chatbot, your conversation history is stored in your browser’s localStorage. This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to or stored on Nappedia’s servers.
  • Quiz responses — If you use the mattress quiz, your answers are processed entirely within your browser to generate recommendations. Your quiz responses are not sent to or stored on any external server.
  • Basic analytics data — If and when we implement analytics, we may collect anonymized usage data such as page views and general traffic patterns. This data would not include personally identifiable information.

We do not collect names, email addresses, payment information, or any other personally identifiable information through normal use of this website.

How We Use Information

Any information we collect is used solely to improve your experience on Nappedia. Specifically:

  • Content improvement — Aggregated, anonymized analytics data (if implemented) helps us understand which content is most useful and where we can improve our mattress reviews, buying guide, and scoring methodology.
  • Quiz and chatbot experience — Your locally stored quiz and chatbot data allows these tools to function properly and provide personalized recommendations within your browser session.

We do not sell, rent, or share any user data with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.

Cookies & Local Storage

Nappedia uses browser localStorage to support the chatbot feature. LocalStorage allows the chatbot to retain your conversation history between visits so you can pick up where you left off. This data is stored entirely on your device.

We do not currently use third-party tracking cookies. We do not use cookies for advertising, retargeting, or cross-site tracking. If this changes in the future, this policy will be updated accordingly.

You can clear your localStorage data at any time through your browser settings. Doing so will erase your chatbot conversation history but will not affect your ability to use the site.

Third-Party Services

Nappedia relies on a small number of third-party services to operate:

  • Google Fonts — We load typefaces (Outfit, Plus Jakarta Sans, and Material Symbols) from Google Fonts. Google may collect basic connection data when these fonts are loaded. You can review Google Fonts’ privacy policy for more details.
  • OpenRouter API — The chatbot feature can optionally connect to the OpenRouter API to power AI-generated responses. This connection is only made if you manually configure an API key in the settings page. When active, your chatbot messages are sent to OpenRouter for processing. Nappedia does not store or have access to your API key beyond your browser’s localStorage.
  • Firebase Hosting — This website is hosted on Google’s Firebase Hosting platform. Firebase may collect standard server logs including IP addresses and request metadata as part of normal web hosting operations. You can review Firebase’s privacy policy for more details.

Data Security

Nappedia is designed with a privacy-first architecture. Because we are a static website with no user accounts, no databases, and no server-side data processing, the attack surface for user data is minimal.

  • No personal data is collected or stored on our servers.
  • Chatbot data and quiz responses remain in your browser and are never transmitted to Nappedia.
  • The site is served over HTTPS, ensuring that all data transferred between your browser and our hosting provider is encrypted in transit.

While no system is completely immune to security risks, our minimal data collection approach means there is very little user data that could be compromised.

Children’s Privacy

Nappedia is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Because our site does not require accounts or collect personal data through normal use, children’s data is not at risk. However, if you believe a child has provided personal information to us through any channel, please contact us and we will take steps to address the concern.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. When we make changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically to stay informed about how we protect your information.

Significant changes to this policy will be noted on this page. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
